Movement Unleashed is a high-energy performance festival celebrating the strength, creativity and complexity of boys and young men today.
Bringing together performers aged 14+ from across the community, the evening blends sport, martial arts, dance, live music and spoken word into one dynamic showcase. From football drills and rugby tackles to karate kata and street-inspired choreography, familiar physical disciplines are transformed into powerful stage performance — athletic, expressive and unexpectedly moving.
Created through The Brave Project, a wellbeing initiative supporting positive mental health in young men, the show explores what masculinity looks like now: teamwork and vulnerability, competition and connection, power and honesty. In response to the stark reality that 75% of suicides in the UK are male, Movement Unleashed offers something different — a celebration of expression, friendship and resilience told through movement. This festival-style launch at the Scarborough Spa Theatre shines a spotlight on local talent while opening a conversation about wellbeing, strength and what it really means to be brave.
This performance explores themes that may be sensitive for younger audiences. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and parental guidance is advised.
